Venous Reflux

Venous reflux occurs when the valves inside the veins fail to close properly, causing blood to flow backward and pool in the legs. This is one of the most common underlying causes of varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency.

Symptoms

  • Aching or heaviness in the legs

  • Swelling in the ankles and feet

  • Skin discoloration

  • Itching or burning sensation

  • Visible varicose or spider veins
